Hashtrood rugs, produced in Eastern Azerbaijan in primarily rug runner sizes, frequently feature geometric designs in a combination of salmon, baby blue, and navy blue.
Hashtrood is located in Eastern Azerbaijan, southeast of Tabriz and north of Zanjan.
The name Hashtrood literally means 8 rivers – Hasht means 8 and Rood means river – due to its location in close proximity to the 8 rivers of the region. Hashtrood rugs are well known to be woven in long rug runner sizes, although other sizes are available. Skilled artisans use the Turkish knot when weaving a Hashtrood rug runner, with the average KPSI (knots per square inch) being approximately 82. It may be difficult to acquire a Hashtrood rug runner as there is quite limited output especially when compared with other very prolific cities in the region.
The Hashtrood rug runner features geometric designs that have a lovely, almost casual appearance. They often have a large square shape medallion in navy blue set in a lighter field, but they are not known for a particular design or pattern that makes them instantly recognizable. The colors in a Hashtrood rug runner are most often a combination of salmon, baby blue, and navy blue. For some unknown reason it is very rare to see red in a Hashtrood rug runner.
The foundation on a Hashtrood rug runner is cotton, while the pile is wool, making the rug very durable. A rug runner does more than just provide floor covering in high traffic areas.
It will add warmth and color to your home. Your Hashtrood rug runner is the ideal shape for the space between two beds in the bedroom and an interesting alternative to mat style rugs.
A Hashtrood rug runner is extremely versatile and can be used in any room in the house.
It can even be used as a table runner. If you are decorating a high traffic area or trying to solve a decorating dilemma in an unusually sized space, a Hashtrood rug runner may provide the solution.
